On WEDNESDAY, APRIl 13th, STUNNA hosts another very special installmenet of 'THE GREENROOM' on BASSDRIVE radio. During this week's program, we set our sights upon beautiful SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA, as two of the city's top talents, KOLYA and KNOTICE, deliver guest mixes for the show.

KOLYA (aka NIK) has been making music and DJing for decades. You might know him from his collaborations with STUNNA ('LAWS OF MOTION,' 'DIME PIECE,' 'SUGAR BEAR') or previous guest mixes for 'THE GREEENROOM' under his old alias CALCULON. He is the founder of the globally lauded SHOOT RECORDINGS imprint. A label featuring a wide breadth of tempos and artists such as OM UNIT, DIGITAL, SKEPTICAL, SURVIVAL , DJ MADD, ROOT FOR THE VILLAIN, SINISTARR, DEFT, MORESOUNDS, LEWIS JAMES, and many more, 2022 marks the ten year annivesary of SHOOT RECORDINGS in business.

KNOTICE is an advocate of deep, eclectic dance grooves, and an atmospheric, often grimey bass flow to make you move. in the late 1990s, KNOTICE (aka ASH) started out performing as a resident DJ for an INDUSTRIAL club in MICHIGAN. Using this experience soon opened the doors to the underground where he found his calling. He would then move on to DJing at after hours and main events in CHICAGO and surrounding areas. It was in the late 2000s when he reimagined himself as 'KNOTICE.' A name that represents knowlege (know this), mastery, awareness and representative of a command to notice. With this mindset and focus, he is never afraid to experiment or break the mold. His often eclectic selection is all reflections of his current frame of mind. You might find him during his mixes where he delineates and brews together beautiful synth melodies, grimey backdrops, funky breaks, brooding basslines, and occasional vocal hooks, all to keep you stepping. BC RYDAH is a JUNGLE DJ, Producer, remixer from LONG BEACH, CALIFORNIA. During his career as a DJ, he's shared the stage with the likes of FRANKIE BONES, R.A.W. aka 6BLOCC, DIESELBOY, JON1ST, APX-1, CRS?, SINISTARR, SIXFOOTUNDA, JASON BLAKEMORE, DJ STARSCREAM, U-OME, OSCAR DA GROUCH, E-SASSIN, RON D CORE, JACKY MURDA, OSCI, MRS. MAGOO, DJ BABEL, M27, NINJA FAREYE, and MIZEYESIS, to name a few. BC RYDAH has also been running the JUNGLE music label YESKA BEATZ UNLIMITED since 2014, and its sister label, YELLOW JACKET RECORDINGS, since 2018. With multiple releases on further labels such as RUFF GUIDANCE, SOUND SO FIRECE, and WICKED JUNGLE, as well as countless singles on independent labels across the globe, expect to hear more excitiing music from BC RYDAH in 2022 and beyond.

Hailing from the northern suburbs of ATHENS, GREECE, DJ MEDIT (aka LAMPROS DOUROS) began his journey as a DJ in the '90s. Heavily influenced by the sounds of JUNGLE and BREAKBEAT, MEDIT was also enthralled and intrigued by REGGAE, DUB, FUNK, and SOUL. In 2009, he launched the 'MEDITDNB' project (a blog dedicated to promoting DRUM+BASS throughout GREECE and other MEDITERRANEAN countries). Throughout his musical journey, MEDIT has gained support from notable artists and producers such as FURNEY, MYSTIFIC, SOUL CONNECTION, InnaSelf, DAN GUIDANCE, DUB DEFENSE, and CRITYCAL DUB (among many others). On WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 19th, STUNNA moves deeper into the month of broadcasts in 'THE GREENROOM' on BASSDRIVE Radio. This week's program sees the debut appearance of TOYACOYAH, as she graces the decks with an exclusive guest mix.

CHICAGO-based DJ TOYACOYAH is an avid record collector who starting her journey as a selector in the late '90s, hosting a DRUM+BASS radio show at the UNIVERSITY OF OKLAHOMA. After graduating, she moved to AUSTIN, TEXAS, where she continued pushing the D+B sound at raves and clubs throughout TEXAS, COLORADO, CALIFORNIA, and even internationally in BRAZIL. While in AUSTIN, she was one of the original resident DJs for MENTAL NOTE, a night dedicated to LIQUID FUNK and jazzy D+B at PLUSH nightclub. That seminal Tuesday weekly event went on to be one of the longest running DRUM+BASS nights in TEXAS, passing the torch on to others, like the SONAR DNB crew. After a brief hiatus due to motherhood, TOYACOYAH is back playing the music she loves for folks across the MIDWEST, and has recently joined up with the PROPER CHICAGO crew. She's grateful to have played alongside many of her favorite DJs (ANDY C, DRUMAGICK, FABIO, RANDOM MOVEMENT), and looks forward to what the future holds. Expect to hear all the fun flavors of bass music, including FOOTWORK, in DJ sets.

On WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 24th, STUNNA closes out another action-packed month of broadcasts in 'THE GREENROOM' on BASSDRIVE Radio with a very exclusive installment of the program. In this week's edition, STUNNA welcomes MONOTEKNIC back to the show for an exclusive guest mix in tribute to his good friend, DJ, and producer XTC NOTTINGHAM, who passed away in 2019.

As we head into the winter holiday season, and final weeks of 2021, it's time to reflect on the past year as well as remember and cherish those no longer with us to celebrate. One of DRUM+BASS music's finest talents, XTC NOTTINGHAM (aka ADAM LOKE) was taken away from us far too soon over two years ago. An all-around great friend and musician, with ties to JUNGLE's earliest years in the UK, XTC NOTTINGHAM released music starting in 1995, all the way until his untimely death at the age of 45. During his time alive, XTC NOTTINGHAM touched many people with his original music, his impeccable DJ skills (including a 2013 guest mix appearance in 'THE GREENROOM'), and his larger-than-life personality and sense of humor. He made many friends, far and wide, during his all-too-brief time with us, and one of the great friendships bonded was with SAINT LOUIS, MISSOURI-based DJ MONOTEKNIC. The two shared a mutual love of electronic music as they crossed paths many times through the years. XTC NOTTINGHAM made an idelible impression on MONOTEKNIC, as well as all those that knew him during his lifetime.

On WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 17th, STUNNA moves deeper into the month of broadcasts inside 'THE GREENROOM' on BASSDRIVE Radio. In this week's session, we're treated to a debut appearance from the force behind the revered METTASONIC RECORDINGS imprint: DJ QUEST presents a special showcase mix on his label's music.

Originally hailing stateside from VIRGINIA, QUEST (aka JESSE WARREN) grew up on classic 90s HIP HOP. After moving to CHINA and feeling a void, he founded SHENZHEN’s first underground monthly in 2008, FRESH CREW in 2010, MUZIKBOX in 2014, and finally METTASONIC RECORDINGS in 2017. The label focuses on the deeper and melodic side of JUNGLE, while also shining a light on great local producers around EAST ASIA. The burgeoning imprint has seen strong and well-received releases from the likes of TIM REAPER, RAINFOREST, DAVID LOUIS, KRAY, MAIDABLE, NECROTYPE, AMALGAM, and STUNNA.

After moving to TAIWAN in 2019, QUEST launched both MUZIKBOX SOUNDSYSTEM and INNER CITY DISCO in 2021; both a big success on the remote eastern coast. He has been busy at work on the beats lately, with about 3-4 new albums near completion. A life-long record collector dedicated to both the classics and the cutting edge of dance music, QUEST loves building ragtag sound systems in the Jamaican tradition. Recently, his main focus has been his own original live sets: CHILL TRAP, DANCEHALL, TRIBAL DISCO, HOUSE, and eventually, DRUM+BASS.

LONDON, ENGLAND-based artist TIM REAPER (aka ED ALLOH) has made quite a name for himself over the last decade, as one of the leading forces (and most active producers) in the fast-paced world of electronic music. A versatile artist in the studio domain, and a true student with encylopedic knowledge of JUNGLE music's past and present, TIM REAPER's own creations have landed on a myriad of labels (and DJ boxes) throughout the years. With releases for the likes of 7TH STOREY PROJECTS, AKO BEATZ, AMENOLOGY, BEAT MACHINE, BLU MAR TEN MUSIC, BUSTLE BEATS, DARK AGE, DEEP JUNGLE, DSCI4, HOOVERSOUND, LOBSTER THEREMIN, MUST MAKE MUSIC, MYOR, NEXT PHASE, PARALLAX, REPERTOIRE, SCIENTIFIC WAX, SKELETON RECORDINGS, and WESTERN LORE (just to name a few), TIM has also found time and energy to manage the FUTURE RETRO LONDON and GLOBEX CORP imprints.

'THE GREENROOM' Guest Mix from COSMOLOGY - November 3, 2021

On WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 3rd, STUNNA launches into a new month of fresh broadcasts in 'THE GREENROOM' on BASSDRIVE Radio. During this week's edition, we're treated to a debut guest mix from seasoned selector and producer COSMOLOGY, as he makes his inaugural appearance on the program.

A few words from the man himself...

"Growing up in rural OXFORDSHIRE, UK, it was my dad playing guitar in a local blues band and his record collection that introduced me to the world of music. I took piano lessons at the age of 12 but soon moved on to playing drums for a band at school which seemed much more fun at the time! I was introduced to what we now know as DRUM + BASS later on at secondary school through a DJ RATTY tape my brother brought home one day and the raving years began. It wasn’t until quite a while later, with the culture now fully absorbed that I considered making my own music.

I picked up a MIDI keyboard which came bundled with CUBASE LE in 2008 and started from there. In 2009, PLUSH RECORDINGS got in touch and asked if they could sign one of my tunes, "THERE'S A SAYING," after listening to it on MYSPACE. Not long after that, they commissioned an EP, and tunes from that were picked up and supported by a number of DJs including ASHATAK and STUNNA. Looking back now, I think that EP was trapped inside me, waiting to come out, and it has a lovely sense of freedom of expression and encompasses many different styles of DRUM + BASS music.

Following on from that, I have had tunes signed to a number of labels including PHUZION DIGITAL, DIGITAL BLUS, SOUL DEEP, LIQUID DROPS, LIQUID TONES, DNBB, BINARY FEEDBACK, STOREJAM, and a collab with PHAT PLAYAZ on FOKUZ RECORDINGS. In 2013, I was fortunate enough to have a vinyl release on GOOD LOOKING RECORDS, alongside the very talented ENEA, owner of BEATALISTICS RECORDS. I still send music to LTJ BUKEM, and he has supported a good number of my tunes since then.

In 2016, I had a two-tracker on BLU SAPHIR RECORDS which did really well for me at the time. It was the first of my tracks of what I would say is now my signature style of AMEN drums, 808 bass and looped and filtered piano chords. One of the tunes has vocals from ELLA SOPP, who I was lucky enough to be able to work with. BUKEM was the first to pick these up and support followed from DJs including NOOKIE, EZ ROLLERS, and INTELLIGENT MANNERS. This led to a collab with ANTHONY KASPER which was released on CELSIUS RECORDINGS at the end of FEBRUARY 2016. The track was supported by DJs including MARKY, INTELLIGENT MANNERS, STUNNA, and VELOCIT on the HUMAN ELEMENTS podcast and led to another release on CELSIUS on the same EP as RANDOM MOVEMENT and SATL.

Since then, I’ve managed to be pretty consistent with my releases. Highlights have included a collab with SHODAN and ELLA SOPP which got remixed by the mighty ZERO T and a collab with the legendary DJ SS. Lately, I’ve had another release on DIGITAL BLUS which was supported by HIGH CONTRAST, an EP on SMOOTH N GROOVE RECORDS with my friend G-REG, and one on SOUL DEEP. I had my own EP on INFLUENZA MEDIA which was showed love from the likes of DANNY BYRD, and DJ MARKY, and now I’m lucky enough to be releasing a track on the label owned by one of my DRUM + BASS heroes, RANDOM MOVEMENT's FLIGHT PATTERN RECORDS imprint.

I’d say I’ve certainly developed my own style of DRUM + BASS over the years, which is mainly dictated by my production processes in the studio. I tend to have a habit of focussing on AMENS and 808 bass, which harks back to the glory days of the 90s which was such an inspirational time for me. I rarely set out to make a track with a particular idea behind it and often fully re-work my tracks in the constant striving for deepness. If a sample or sound isn’t absolutely right, then it’s getting canned, I’m my own worst critic. Saying that, when the vibes are right, I love nothing more than rolling with an idea which is when the most fun can be had!"
