On WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 7th, STUNNA dives into a brand new month of broadcasts in 'THE GREENROOM' on BASSDRIVE radio. In this week's edition, STUNNA turns his attention to prodigious producer NAIBU, who, after a brief hiatus from the DRUM+BASS scene's public eye, makes his triumpant return, armed with a brand new album entitled 'SANS SOLEIL' on his very own MINATO MUSIC label. STUNNA catches up with NAIBU during this session for an interview and feature on the landmark LP release which drops this month worldwide.
A friendship that began more than twenty years ago, STUNNA and NAIBU initially connected via the BASSDRIVE website and chatroom in 2003, where STUNNA and station alum PIPELINE would regulary feature many of NAIBU's early, unsigned productions. STUNNA launched his weekly show 'THE GREENOOM' in APRIL 2006, and shortly thereafter, began recording and airing a series of artist 'spotlight' mixes during select broadcasts. JANUARY 2007 saw the first of STUNNA's 'spotlight' features on NAIBU's works, unveiling a rising new talent to listeners around the globe. Followed a few years later in 2011 with the second feature on NAIBU's expanding catalogue of signed and unreleased music, STUNNA shed even more light on the burgeoning, PARIS, FRANCE-based artist.
With an impeccable discography of music released on esteemed imprints the likes of ABSYS, AVALANCHE, BREAKIN', BASSWERK, CELSIUS, CREATIVE SOURCE, CRITICAL, DEEP SOUL MUSIC, DUST AUDIO, FOKUZ, HORIZONS, HOSPITAL, IM:LTD, INSIDE, LEVITATED, None60, PARADOX MUSIC, RUBIK, SANTORIN, SCIENTIFIC, SOUL:R, SUBTLE AUDIO, TECH:NOIR, and WARM COMMUNICATIONS, 2024 sees the launch of NAIBU's own MINATO MUSIC label. With its inaugural release, in form of the 'SANS SOLEIL' LP, a project more than six years in the making, MINATO MUSIC is the new home for NAIBU's releases where he'll maintain creative and artistic control of future projects.
Released on two-piece vinyl, digital, and streaming platforms, the eleven-track journey of the 'SANS SOLEIL' LP sees NAIBU continue to refine his signature sound, as well as enlist the talents of legendary vocalist ROBERT MANOS, the BUDAPEST SCORING ORCHESTRA, a live choir, OLIVIER BLANCHIN on album artwork duty, and engineer extraordinaire BOB 'MACC' MACCIOCHI at SUBVERT CENTRAL MASTERING. Effortless in drawing listeners inward with its enthralling soundscapes, 'SANS SOLEIL' is an album to appreciate both on and off the dancefloor.
