On WEDNESDAY, JUNE 28th, STUNNA closes out another action-packed month in 'THE GREENROOM' on BASSDRIVE radio with yet another very special edition. In this installment, we turn our attention to seasoned DRUM+BASS selctor DJ MENIS, as he unveils a brand new guest mix crafted especially for this show.
As a young newcomer to the AUSTRALIAN underground dance music scene in the late 1990s, DJ MENIS quickly started igniting warehouse dance floors, and it wasn't long until his name was a regular feature on PERTH's biggest rave flyers. DJ MENIS initially drew influence from early '90s HARDCORE and JUNGLE rave tape packs coming out of the UK from the likes of CARL COX, RATTY, DARREN JAY, RAY KEITH, SLIPMATT, GROOVERIDER, and BRISK via nights such as CLUB KINETIC, FANTAZIA, THE BIG BANG, ORIGIN, DREAMSCAPE and HELTER SKELTER. MENIS drew inspiration from the early works of fellow countryman GREG PACKER (now known as DR PACKER), eventually developing his own unique DJ style: fast-paced and energetic. His enthusiatic style and ability to read a crowd earned MENIS a DJ residency at the legendary GRAVITY nightclub, where he played alongside the era's biggest music legends. MENIS' deep knowledge of music from both a DJ and producer's perspective and has gone on to champion many sounds over the years, including BREAKBEAT, HARDCORE, TRANCE, JUNGLE, and DRUM+BASS. This journey has taken him from PERTH's underground clubs, to massive SYDNEY festivals, and around the world to the UK, with headline sets at FUTURE DANCE, TWO TRIBES, and FANTASIA.
