'THE GREENROOM' Guest Mix from AARON JAY (Influence Records) - March 3, 2021

On WEDNESDAY, MARCH 3rd, STUNNA kicks off a brand new month of programs in 'THE GREENROOM' on BASSDRIVE Radio. In this week's edition, STUNNA welcomes back seasoned DJ, producer, and INFLUENCE RECORDS' label founder AARON JAY, as he unveils a brand new studio mix crafted especially for this session.

Born in LONDON, UK, AARON JAY first discovered the sounds of JUNGLE in the mid '90s, attending raves as a teenager which led him to the burgeoning sounds of GOLDIE and his seminal METALHEADZ imprint. From there, AARON got the bug for DJing, finding his first residencies whilst at university. This led him to become a recognized DJ, pioneering the early LIQUID FUNK sound in northern cities, landing a university radio show sponsored by BBC Radio 1. He retuned back to LONDON after his studies, and began making a name for himself by playing at ONE NATION, HOSPITALITY, and also performing as a regular warm-up DJ at BRYAN G’s popular 'MOVEMENT' night.

Shortly after this, AARON was contacted by GROOVE CONNECTION, the legendary DJ agency who looked after FABIO and GROOVERIDER, and were responsible for running FABIO’s legendary 'SWERVE' events. After just three gigs at 'SWERVE,' AARON was tapped as FABIO’s main resident DJ. The following seven years, AARON toured with 'SWERVE,' showcasing his talents behind the decks at FABRIC, CABLE CLUB, and many more legendary venues. During these years, AARON would find himself receiving unreleased material from then-upcoming producers, including PAUL T and EDWARD OBERON, LYNX, DATA, SINISTARR, SOUL INTENT, and countless others. As a result of this influx of unsigned DRUM+BASS tracks he had access to, AARON decided to create his own label, and established INFLUENCE RECORDS in 2008.

Since the imprint's initial inception and launch, AARON, alongside label manager J:SKEPTIK, have guided INFLUENCE RECORDS' path in constucting a deep and varied discogrpahy of strong material from the likes of COMMIX, ZERO T, BUNGLE, CUTWORX, EASY and GEEKS, ATOM, FLACO, CONRAD SUBS, FURNEY, SEVIN, MR JOSEPH, EVESON, DAVE OWEN, and many more talented artists. The label represents the deeper and sometime leftfield side of the DRUM+BASS genre. With 2021 already off to a solid start with releases from CONRAD SUBS and WAGZ, this year will also see the launch of INFLUENCE RECORDS' first-ever artist album from EASY, as well as a various artist compilation entitled "DIARIES FROM DETROIT CITY" (with offerings from LYNX, SEBA, BUNGLE and more exciting producers).

VOYAGE MUSIC was born from a bi-weekly radio show broadcast featuring long-time, CALIFORNIA-based DJs SENATOR (aka PHILIP RUSH) and DJM (aka DAVE MARWICK) on the web-based JUNGLETRAIN station. The VOYAGE MUSIC label commissioned its first full music release from artists SAXXON and CALCULON, entitled "ALLEY GIRL," with a remix from BAZIL. On WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 10th, STUNNA presents another special edition of 'THE GREENROOM' on BASSDRIVE Radio. In this week's installment, we turn our attention to one of DRUM+BASS music's finest talents and are treated to an exclusive guest mix from: FX909.

Hailing from cultural hub PARIS, FRANCE, FX909 began as a production project manned by ALEXANDRE L. Originally immersed in the TECHNO scene in the mid-1990s, ALEX became one of the leaders of the FRENCH D+B scene at the beginning of the new millennium in 2000. His music productions and duet appearances with RADIO NOVA's DJ VOLTA gained more exposure and positive media attention throughout the country. With multiple appearances in clubs, festivals, radio shows, and magazines, FX909 further defined his vision and signature sound within the global DRUM+BASS scene, as well as honed his production techniques in the studio domain.

In 2004, ALEX signed to the legendary BRITISH imprint DEFUNKED, propelling his brand of LIQUID FUNK upon the international scene. His work with FOKUZ RECORDINGS continued to showcase his unique 'sound': a palette complete with RHODES keys, soulful vocals, deep pads, strong beats and basslines aimed directly at the dance floor. With a growing catalogue of music released on some of the finest labels around, FX909 obtained international support from some of the scene's top selectors. In the span of ten years, he released more than fifty productions and collaborated with the likes of ALIX PEREZ, EGO TRIPPIN, GREG PACKER, MATHEMATICS, PAUL SG, and STUNNA, to name a few. With a need to explore other ventures and begin his own family, the year 2010 saw ALEX put his DRUM+BASS productions as FX909 into hibernation.

Fast forward to 2021, and ALEX has spent the past few years relaunching and reinvigorating his FX909 production moniker with a vengeance, on such labels as AMPHIBIOUS AUDIO, CELSIUS, FOKUZ, INFLUENZA MEDIA, JAZZSTICKS, KOS.MOS MUSIC, LIQUID DROPS, LIQUID DRUM AND BASS FOR ATUSIM, LIQUID FLAVOURS, OMNI MUSIC, SHEER VELOCITY, SMOOTH N GROOVE, SOUL DEEP, SUPER LIT, TRIBE OF DUB and VOYAGE MUSIC. With over 100 tracks released in 2020 alone, the prolific PARISIAN recently unveiled his own FX909 MUSIC label. A vehicle to release his original tracks as well as upcoming and established artists, such as IMPRESSION, INSIDEMAN, JazzInspired, and TEKNICAL, be on the lookout for more great music forthcoming on the burgeoning imprint.

Beginning his career in the world of JUNGLE and DRUM+BASS music back in 1994, RENAN (aka ERIK CEVALLOS) has continued to build his reputation both behind the decks and behind the scenes by promoting events around the CHICAGO area as well as co-founding the multi-service recording facility S.O.S. STUDIOS in 2011. Establishing an allegiance with like-minded local selectors, RENAN has curated the DNBiD crew in the form of various regular nights such as 'BASS RIOT,' 'RAGGAMUFFIN,' and 'REFORM.' Recently, RENAN has helped launch the 'FUTR SOURCE' series of livestreams which feature both CHICAGO DJs as well as international guests on a regular basis. SAO PAULO, BRAZIL-based DRUM AND BASS artist ONE MINDZ (aka CARLOS O. SILVA) had his first contact with underground music in mid 1994. Influenced by his older brother who was a DJ, ONE MINDZ began his career in the world of electronic music. In 2002, his first DJ mixes appeared, and after a long period of honing his craft behind the decks, the year 2017 saw ONE MINDZ enter the production ring with initial releases on the SOULBASS RECORDINGS imprint. 'THE GREENROOM' Guest Mix from VOYAGER - January 6, 2021

On WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 6th, STUNNA kicks off a brand new calendar year in 'THE GREENROOM' on BASSDRIVE Radio with a very special installment. During this week's broadcast, we're treated to an exclusive guest mix from legendary producer/DJ VOYAGER, in support of his brand new ETERNAL SOUL label which launches this month.

During the golden era of DRUM AND BASS music, VOYAGER (aka PETE PARSONS) was best known for his work as an artist, producer and engineer for one of the seminal UK DRUM AND BASS labels from that era: DEE JAY RECORDINGS/LUCKY SPIN RECORDINGS (although his client list included many other labels, producers and DJs during that time). Starting his career in 1990 at the MONROE PRODUCTION COMPANY in LONDON, he quickly became the 'go to' engineer/programmer for many of the studio's electronic music artists who were just beginning to create the kind of music that would go on to dominate the UK underground scene for the next decade and beyond. During this time, PETE's reputation grew due to his expertise in the studio domain, but also because his production sound design was clean, crisp, and additionally featured the deeper and more soulful sounds that would become his signature style during the golden mid-'90s era.

In the late 1990s, PETE signed a record deal with legendary TECHNO label R&S RECRODS. In 1997, he released a DRUM AND BASS LP for the imprint. Entitled 'FUTURE RETRO,' the superb, multi-flavored album included the classic anthem "HYPERSLEEP." Following the LP's release, PETE returned to his main musical instrument, the drums, forming one of the first live DRUM AND BASS bands to promote the album throughout the UK and the EU.

After two further releases on GOOD LOOKING RECORDS and CREATIVE SOURCE in the late '90s, PETE took a sabbatical from DRUM AND BASS in early 2000 to work in the UK NU SKOOL BREAKS scene under the moniker BREAKNECK (alongside partners DJ TAMSIN and DJ VLAD). The trio was signed to RENNIE PILGREM's TCR label in 2000, and then launched their own LONDON BREAKZ imprint, which ran from 2002 to 2007.

Fast forward to present day, and PETE has returned to producing DRUM AND BASS. After a few earlier releases on CAMINO BLUE RECORDINGS, TEMPO RECORDS, and OKBRON RECORDS, 2021 sees the long-overdue launch of VOYAGER's very own label: ETERNAL SOUL. With the new label's first release featuring a trio of solo VOYAGER tracks ("AURORA," "KOKORO," and "MERAKI"), be on the lookout for more original material on the imprint, as well as further releases and projects throughout the year on other labels from VOYAGER.

His journey into DRUM+BASS music began sometime around 2005, with his initial exposure to the internet radio station BASSDRIVE and its wide-reaching global community. The conglomeration of its IRC network of DJs, producers, labels, and listeners from around the world allowed TYLER to participate in the music scene before he could legally enter a club in the USA. Early D+B influences o his include the VIRGINIA-based production team STYLE CONTROL (WILL MILES, KJELL, ILL OMEN, NaCl), alongside collaborations with fellow BAY AREA producer METHOD ONE, and CHICAGO-based STUNNA. TYLER's music has seen releases over the years on labels such as DRUM AND BASS ARENA, LEVITATED, LIQUID DROPS, SANTORIN, and WESTBAY. Currently, you can find TYLER honing his multi-media skills on TWITCH.TV, where he's been building a channel focused around collaboration, performance, and education.

'THE GREENROOM' Guest Mix from VELOCITY - November 25, 2020

On WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 25th, STUNNA closes out another action-packed month of programming in 'THE GREENROOM' on BASSDRIVE Radio. In this week's broadcast, STUNNA welcomes talented producer/DJ VELOCITY into the 'GREENROOM' for his debut guest mix on the show.

TOKYO, JAPAN-based artist VELOCITY (aka TAKASHI SATO) established 7NINE PRODUCTIONS (comprised of a DJ, designer, and VJ) in 2003 to showcase his skills as a DRUM+BASS DJ. In the same year, 7NINE PRODUCTINOS launhced the NEO TOKYO D+B party "ZERO" and performed as a resident DJ at the lauded WOMB nightclub. In 2005, VELOCITY played a role in the creation of sound effects for the legendary VJ software "MOTION DIVE." In 2008, he entered and won 2nd place in the C.N.S (CDJ New Style) battle competiton organized by music industry trailblazer PIONEER, by wowing the judges with his technical mixing styles and skills.

By this time, VELOCITY's original DRUM+BASS tracks had been gaining global attention from DJs and tastemakers by the likes of A-SIDES, BAILEY, BRYAN G, COMMIX, MAKOTO, MARKY, RANDOM MOVEMENT, and BBC RADIO 1's DJ FRICTION. VELOCITY teamed up with KEY MC for the track "LADDER," which was included on fellow countryman and global producer MAKOTO's HUMAN ELEMENTS imprint, as part of the 'SOMETHING WE CAN DO' EP compilation benefitting those affected by the 2011 tsunami and earthquake. He followed this release with a flurry of successful offerings for DANNY WHEELER's W10 RECORDS, MR. JOSEPH's FIZZYBEATS label, and more solid releases on the ADVECTION, FOKUZ, HUMAN ELEMENTS, JASSTICKS, LIQUID V, and SHEER VELOCITY labels. With further new material set to drop in the near future, VELOCITY continues to move forward with his well-polished, infectiously-danceable take on the fast-paced world of D+B music.

'THE GREENROOM' Guest Mix from EUPHORICS - November 18, 2020

On WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 18th, STUNNA moves deeper into this month's schedule of broadcasts in 'THE GREENROOM' on BASSDRIVE Radio. During this week's show, STUNNA welcomes talented producer and DJ EUPHORICS to the show, as he delivers his debut guest mix in 'THE GREENROOM.'

Deeply immersed in the DRUM+BASS music scene for over 15 years, SERBIAN-based artist EUPHORICS (aka UNTAH SELECTA, real name: MILOS ANTIC) initially began his journey by collecting vinyl. In 2006, he made the transition to become a DJ and stepped up to the turntables to share his vision at local D+B parties. Alongside the REMINISCENCE crew, he began playing on the NU PERCETPION and DnB HREAVEN radio shows. For the next two years, he performed all throughout EUROPE, and in 2008, the DJ formerly knowas as 'UNTAH SELECTA' re-established himself as 'EUPHORICS' and began to produce his own brand of DRUM+BASSmusic.

The year 2010 saw EUPHORICS's initial viyl release, via GERMANY's SANTORIN imprint. The 12" featured EUPHORICS + JOE EASYNUTTAH's track "SMOKE," with music from U.S.-based phenom TYLER STRAUB on the flipside. Soonafter, EUPHORICS collaborated with talented, FLORIDA-based vocalist JETT on the track "AGAIN". In early 2013, he released the 'MOONSHINE' EP for the prolific LIQUID BRILLIANTS digital imrpint, gaining "TOP 20" status in the JUNO DOWNLOAD charts. In AUGUST 2013, his track "THAT STUFF" reached 2nd place in the best SERBIAN singles on the national radio station B92, as part of the 'TOGETHER' EP, which reached "TOP 10" status in the JUNO DOWNLOAD sales chart. 2014 saw the vinyl and digital release of his debut album 'MIDNIGHT MIST' (THINK DEEP RECORDINGS), garnering accolades of being one the TOP 6 best-selling DRUM+BASS albums in SERBIA, with the album's title track slotted as one of the "TOP 3" tunes on SERBIAN national radio stations. After releasing his sophomore album, 'ODYSSESY' (SOUL DEEP RECORDINGS) at the end of 2015, EUPHORICS, followed with further offerings, including an appearance on the highly-lauded 'CHRONIC ROLLERS VOL. 3' various artists compiation, with his "PUBLIC SECRET" track. In 2018, EUPHORICS returned to the revered SOUL DEEP RECORDINGS imprint to release his 3rd album, entitled 'CONTACT'. The end of 2018 also saw the release of the JAZZY single "FATHER SOUL" on the legendary DJ SS's seminal FORMATION RECORDS label. Looking ahead to 2021, EUPHORICS's tracks 'REALITY" and "DUSTY GROOVE" (alongside fellow SERBIAN producer OKEE) will be included on the upcoming 'AFTERPARTY VOL. 3' compilation on the hailed LIQUID V imprint.

EUPHORICS believes that a quality live performance must include an MC. During his storied DJ career thus far, EUPHORICS has been supported by many of them: from MC BOJAH to EDGE MC (with whom, collaborations continues to this day). EUPHORICS has performed all across EUROPE, with prominent appearances at the EXIT, HMSU, BASS SEA, and OUTLOOK festivals. Throughout the years, his well-crafted, soulful and funky tracks have seen positive DJ support from the likes of LTJ BUKEM, GROOVRIDER, BRYAN GEE, BIG BUD, FURNEY, A-SIDES, RANDOM MOVEMENT, and the BBC RADIO and BASSDRIVE RADIO crews.

'THE GREENROOM' Guest Mix from SHAMANGA aka FSTZ - November 11, 2020

On WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 11th, STUNNA presents another very special edition 'THE GREENROOM' on BASSDRIVE Radio. In this week's installment, STUNNA welcomes versatile, musical journeyman SHAMANGA aka FSTZ into the 'GREENROOM' for his inaugural appearance on the program.

Electronic music producer, DJ and podcaster SHAMANGA (aka FSTZ, and real name JJ SODERLING) has been deeply involved in the industry for well over two decades. Originally from southern CALIFORNIA, and now residing near KANSAS CITY, he made his initial mark on the local music scene with his KABLAMMO! event series. Currently, his myriad of creative projects include: SHAMANGA, FSTZ, ULTRANET, RIDDIM DANGEROUS, SUBDOMAIN RADIO, CHAKRA SCIENCE, INTERNATIONAL HOUSE OF DUB, and DRUTHERS & DRIPS. He has collabroated with a talented stable of global artists including 6BLOCC, CALCULON, MC ZULU, JON 1ST, and ORKO ELOHEIM. His original tracks and collaborations have been remixed by esteemed producers, such as DJ MADD, SINISTARR, SKEPTICAL, and SURVIVAL.

The recent tracks released on VOYAGE MUSIC under the SHAMANGA alias, fall under the category of MINIMAL DRUM+BASS. The ULTRANET project, with underground HIP HOP legend and longtime collaborator ORKO ELOHEIM, is a mixed bag of sounds, ranging from HALFTIME D+B, HYBRID HIP HOP, FOOTWORK and DARK BASS.
