On APRIL 17, 2013, STUNNA presents another very special edition of 'THE GREENROOM.' For this program, we head cross-country over to sunny SAN DIEGO where we tap into the mind of a very talented DJ/producer by the name of AUSTIN SPEED. An active force in the electronic music community for many years, AUSTIN SPEED's productions draw from a vast array of influences and styles. Borrowing pieces of Jungle, Juke, Drum+Bass, Detroit Techno, and early electro, AUSTIN's current musical output fuses these elements together to create something almost entirely new and has gained support from DJs around the globe. His most recently released track entitled 'BACK THE FUCK UP' (co-produced by long-time friend and collaborator CALCULON) was included on BEATPORT's "ON ROTATION" chart and was also featured on ROCKWELL's MINISTRY OF SOUND RADIO show and SHOGUN AUDIO podcast. With a number of strong releases under his belt for esteemed labels such as LOOSE SQUARES, APEX MUSIC, ROGUE DUBS, LIQUID GEOMETRY, and PHUNKFICTION, be on the lookout for a slew of genre-bending, eclectic offerings in the coming months. On WEDNESDAY, APRIL 3, 2013, STUNNA presents the 22nd installment in THE GREENROOM 'SPOTLIGHT MIX' series. This time, we take a second long-form journey into the body of work from one of North America's leading lights in the Drum+Bass scene: SUBMORPHICS. Originally hailing from the DETROIT area, SUBMORPHICS (aka GREG AXELRAD) has made the Windy City of CHICAGO his home base the past few years and we'll take a peek at what he's been up to since the first spotlight mix on his work aired way back in 2007. His solo productions, collaborations, and remixes all carry his signature 'retro soul' sound: a respectful 'nod' to the past, yet grounded by today's polished, production techniques. Having graced many fine labels such as INNERGROUND, HOSPITAL, WESTBAY, SPEARHEAD, RUBIK, THINK DEEP, BIOS, PHUNKFICTION, and BLU SAPHIR, rest assured, he's got plenty more big release news to announce in the coming months. With another transatlantic tour launching as we go to press, be sure to catch him when he comes to town as his DJ skills match his prowess in the studio domain. SUN+BASS 2012: The Round-Up

After countless times of the words 'next year' passing my lips, I finally made the trek over to San Teodoro, Sardinia, Italy for THE Drum+Bass festival known as 'SUN + BASS' (a week-long, multi-event production featuring Drum+Bass DJs, producers, labels, and fanatics). Taking place September 1st thru 8th, 2012 marked the 9th year of the ever-evolving fest that truly is the mecca for all things D+B. I'm still kicking myself for waiting so long to experience all the great people I met, vibes at each event, and the true beauty of exotic Sardinia. Many thanks to all the organizers of the festival, the BASSDRIVE crew who represented (and partied) 110%, and of course, all the great friends, new and old, that I met. Highlights for me included the METALHEADZ party (completely insane vibes), MARKY + FRIENDS, COMMERCIAL SUICIDE Showcase, the DRS + CALIBRE albums launch party, MARKY + A-SIDES' soul/funk/hip hop set at Bal Harbour, BASSDRIVE Sessions at Ambra Day, both the SAMURAI and closing parties at Ambra Night, and last but certainly not least: the impromptu all-originals sunrise set I played on Ambra beach for the Austrian crew on the final morning of the festival.
