On WEDNESDAY, JUNE 29th, STUNNA closes out an action-packed month of broadcasts of 'THE GREENROOM' on BASSDRIVE radio. In this week's installment, we turn our attention to talented DJ and producer SECTION, as he presents a special guest mix in support of his upcoming debut album 'THE FOURTH HOUR.'

Hailing from WORTHING, UK, SECTION (aka JAMES BARCLAY) began his journey as a DJ in 1997, and has been fortunate to play across the UK, NEW YORK CITY, MIAMI, and PORTUGAL. SECTION starting making beats in 2006 and eventually released tracks in 2011. He's had several releases across the scene’s biggest labels including: DREAD, SKELETON RECORDINGS, SERIAL KILLAZ, AUDIO ADDICT, DEEP IN THE JUNGLE, and DIRECTORS CUT. In 2017, he launched his own label, LOCKED UP MUSIC, which has since garnered positive support from all corners of the scene. SECTION’s forthcoming LP 'THE FOURTH HOUR' is set drop on JULY 8th via PORTUGUESE imprint COUNTERPOINT RECORDINGS. Creation of the 12 track album was born out of a very challenging time for SECTION, who works for the NHS as a physiotherapist. At the inception of the LP, he was redeployed to work on COVID ICU to support hospital staff who were overwhelmed by the DELTA VARIANT. Creating the album acted as a tonic for SECTION, who wanted to create a piece of art that explored both the light and the dark of the daily challenges he faced.

'THE GREENROOM' Guest Mix from CLEN (Smooth N Groove Records) - May 18, 2022

On WEDNESDAY, MAY 18th, STUNNA presents another special installment of 'THE GREENROOM' on BASSDRIVE radio. During this week's session, STUNNA welcomes DJ and SMOOTH N GROOVE RECORDS co-label manager CLEN to the program for an exclusive guest mix.

Located just north of WASHINGTON, D.C., CLEN found a love of music at an early age, quickly finding an affinity for electronic music (DRUM AND BASS, TRANCE, CHILL, BREAKS, and more) through his teenage years. Fate would find him having a run-in with the melodic/liquid/classic atmospheric side of DRUM AND BASS and he began to dedicate his musical time devoted to the scene. Beginning in his early 20s, he started creating his weekly mixes "FRESH OFF THE DECKS," which eventually lead to the creation of SMOOTH N GROOVE RECORDS with ChRiStAL. A few years on now, he is finding just as much passion and enjoyment for music as ever, continuing to progress SMOOTH N GROOVE RECORDS with his label partner, supporting new talent, and witnessing the progression of the genre.

A few words from the man himself...

"The past few years have been quite a musical journey of its own as many things simultaneously are happening both with music and my own tastes. For one, the amount of talent new and old that is being pushed and progressed is absolutely incredible. Veterans of the scene are doing better than ever, and every day there is a new talent that is astonishing. Additionally, the amount of knowledge, technology, and well-known producers providing their experience to others on a wide format continues to push the scene onwards and upwards. Nowadays, you can really feel the influence of both a lighter touch and darker side in many tunes. For example, you can hear a real LIQUID track with some darker breaks throughout the track. Not only that, but other genres seem to be crossroading more and more. On SMOOTH N GROOVE RECORDS, we're continuing to see how we can better support the artists we've been signing including touching the vinyl side of things, and we're always on the lookout for new artists. I think one of the best things I've enjoyed about mixing or doing the SMOOTH N GROOVE podcasts, music-wise, is working with the integration of both lighter and darker tracks to create an experience, a story of sorts, for the listeners. ChRiStAL and I are continuing to work every day on the label, as we have a new SoulStructure + Friends vs SOUL DEEP vs SMOOTH N GROOVE event in the UK in JUNE, new vinyl lined up and on the way, 'HIDDEN IN THE CRATES VOL. 4' compilation under development, merchandise coming, the new BANDCAMP page up, and also an ever-growing and evolving lineup of talented producers. KOLYA (aka NIK) has been making music and DJing for decades. He is the founder of the globally lauded SHOOT RECORDINGS imprint. A label featuring a wide breadth of tempos and artists such as OM UNIT, DIGITAL, SKEPTICAL, SURVIVAL , DJ MADD, ROOT FOR THE VILLAIN, SINISTARR, DEFT, MORESOUNDS, LEWIS JAMES, and many more, 2022 marks the ten year annivesary of SHOOT RECORDINGS in business.

KNOTICE is an advocate of deep, eclectic dance grooves, and an atmospheric, often grimey bass flow to make you move. in the late 1990s, KNOTICE (aka ASH) started out performing as a resident DJ for an INDUSTRIAL club in MICHIGAN. Using this experience soon opened the doors to the underground where he found his calling. He would then move on to DJing at after hours and main events in CHICAGO and surrounding areas. It was in the late 2000s when he reimagined himself as 'KNOTICE.' A name that represents knowlege (know this), mastery, awareness and representative of a command to notice. With this mindset and focus, he is never afraid to experiment or break the mold. His often eclectic selection is all reflections of his current frame of mind. You might find him during his mixes where he delineates and brews together beautiful synth melodies, grimey backdrops, funky breaks, brooding basslines, and occasional vocal hooks, all to keep you stepping. On WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 19th, STUNNA moves deeper into the month of broadcasts in 'THE GREENROOM' on BASSDRIVE Radio. This week's program sees the debut appearance of TOYACOYAH, as she graces the decks with an exclusive guest mix.

CHICAGO-based DJ TOYACOYAH is an avid record collector who starting her journey as a selector in the late '90s, hosting a DRUM+BASS radio show at the UNIVERSITY OF OKLAHOMA. After graduating, she moved to AUSTIN, TEXAS, where she continued pushing the D+B sound at raves and clubs throughout TEXAS, COLORADO, CALIFORNIA, and even internationally in BRAZIL. While in AUSTIN, she was one of the original resident DJs for MENTAL NOTE, a night dedicated to LIQUID FUNK and jazzy D+B at PLUSH nightclub. That seminal Tuesday weekly event went on to be one of the longest running DRUM+BASS nights in TEXAS, passing the torch on to others, like the SONAR DNB crew. After a brief hiatus due to motherhood, TOYACOYAH is back playing the music she loves for folks across the MIDWEST, and has recently joined up with the PROPER CHICAGO crew. She's grateful to have played alongside many of her favorite DJs (ANDY C, DRUMAGICK, FABIO, RANDOM MOVEMENT), and looks forward to what the future holds. Expect to hear all the fun flavors of bass music, including FOOTWORK, in DJ sets.
