On WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 10th, STUNNA presents another special edition of 'THE GREENROOM' on BASSDRIVE Radio. During this week's session, STUNNA welcomes back veteran CHICAGO-based selector DJ GLYDE to the program, as he unveils a brand new, year-end guest mix during the broadcast.
DJ GLYDE (aka PHIL McFARLAND) has been a fixture of CHICAGO's vibrant music scene since the late 1990s. He began his career as a DJ in 1996, spinning vinyl at college house parties and then small clubs in CHICAGO. From the beginning, GLYDE was focused on a blend of JUNGLE, HIP HOP and DUB. He quickly gained a following among CHICAGO's underground music community with the launch of 'THE SEMINAR' (a popular weekly event, featuring local and international talent) and began playing at larger venues across the city. Over the years, GLYDE has continued to push the boundaries of the JUNGLE and DRUM+BASS genres, incorporating elements of DUBSTEP, REGGAE, and other styles into his sets.
As co-founder of BASS BY THE POUND, GLYDE produced and promoted more than 600 events, hosting artists from all over the world. BBP enjoyed great success and notoriety, including recognition in 2003 as “NIGHTCLUB PROMOTERS OF THE YEAR” by URB magazine. In addition to his work as a DJ and promoter, GLYDE has also been an advocate for CHICAGO's WEST TOWN neighborhood. He has produced the 'WEST FEST' DJ stage since 2006, with proceeds benefitting the chamber of commerce and local schools.
GLYDE continues to create and release new mixes and old skool edits on his SOUNDCLOUD page as well as promote one-off events around the city. He remains a beloved figure in CHICAGO's music scene as a pioneering JUNGLE/DRUM+BASS DJ and promoter.
